Your favorite DJ and sometines blogger is representing for his asian people at Hyphen Magazine. I love spinning these parties bc the crowd and vibe is just hype. If you are in the bay, come out! My set starts at 10. Going till 12, then I am off to Cream of Beat. After the fireworks tomorrow, stop by Sugar Lounge in SF and let’s celebrate hip-hop and life.

The production duo, Cookin’ Soul, have partnered with Nah Right to come up with a compilation album entitled 1:00am and Rising. Eskay has alot to say about it at NR. But, if you want to get straight to the nitty gritty, just download the song below. If the mixtape is anything like the song below, this is going to be a slept-on banger (no date-rape). Let’s keep promoting good music, KTL readers. All 18 of us can change the world!
This is a great mixtape that came out a few years ago – if my memory serves me correct. Anyways, Floyd The Locsmif and DJ Jamad bust out some great blends on this mixtape. I’ve even used a couple in my sets here and there. If you are a lover of hip-hop but more specifically, an Outkast head ,you will love this! My fav is the Ludacris blend. Thanks to DU for the link. Tracklisting after the jump.
Word is that Raekwon hired the same guy who made the first cover to recreate the cover for Part 2. Ghost looks a little more photoshopped than I would like but you gotta respect that Rae knows what his fans want. Props to NR and Miss iNfo for the heads up. September 8th!

I am still loving the Jay video. Really, I think the visuals and song upped the game for alot of artists out there. If he can stay consistent with this vibe, Blueprint 3 can be another classic. Anyways, I saw THIS video at Amalgram and wanted to post it. Just appreciate the humor and humility in this video from Jorge. Its fun and off his upcoming album, II.

So apparently Jay-Z wouldn’t let Chris Brown take the stage at the BET Awards last night. Rumors are flying around that Jay-Z heard that Chris Brown was going to do a tribute to Michael Jackson, and told BET that if they let him do that, Jay would cancel his performance. Chris Brown reportedly rehearsed for three days before the show and was abruptly told that he wasn’t going to be going on stage.
Oh ya, did I tell you that it is Jay-Z day today?

I saw this a few days ago but JGILLA urged me to really watch this today. I must say, I got that “Obama feeling” about this record. Although I can’t understand one word from Damian Marley when he is not singing, doesn’t mean his music is not powerful. I also see the potential that a fellow artist can inspire Nas to bring back his spiritual and political lyricism. And it doesn’t hurt that someone else is helping him pick beats. I’m excited for this project!

Mister Cee made this mix yeeeeaaaars ago but it still bangs. Mister Cee is not the best mixer but has some of the best song selections and exclusives. Something to bump to keep you focused on dope lyrics and great beat selection. Smarten up, Nas. Props to DU for the links and image. Track listing after the jump.
