UPDATED: Jay-Z – Run This Town (video)

I broke down and posted it.

At first, I hated the song but its grown on me and its a song that is not meant for headphones or laptops. You need speakers that can actually do it justice. The video just brought it to a whole new level. According to JGILLA, Kanye in the BMW is ingenious. But, I still hate Rhianna’s singing on the song. So there!

***UPDATE: Old video link died. Resurrected the post w/ Director commentary. Thanks, NR!

adidas Originals – Simpsons House Party Parody

This is my most favorite song of the year. And now the simpsons are parodying it, good game. I am actually listening to the radio these days and I am happy that this song is getting airplay.

Dope Video: “Welcome To Heartbreak”

No matter how you feel about Kayne’s current sound, this video is really entertaining. Apparently it was ugly sweater day on the set though.

Jay-Z – Brooklyn Go Hard (video)

New video for the new single.  You know this is nice.  Get the background story on the video here.  And if you are new to Know The Ledge, you know we were  up on this shit last year.  Anthony’s grafitti/art game is years ahead of all y’all!  NR got it first, we did it worser!  BTW, any one else with me that this song is too sick for the non-hip-hop heads.  You gotta be a fan of beats and lyrics to like this.  Fuck that shit you can dance to, this is hoodie-on, head-nodding music.

Wale – Nike Boots (video)

Wale FINALLY got the Nike Boots video out to his fans!

From Walemusic.com… “Official music video directed by Chris Robinson. Cameos from Kid Capri, Bun B, 9th Wonder, Young Guru, Raheem DeVaughn, Young Chris and Neef, Grafh, UCB, Tabi Bonney and Beat Your Feet Kings.”  I think Eskay said it best – “This has to be some kind of record for length of time between the release of a song to the release of the video.”  In any sense, I am happy to hear and see this song get some renewed energy.

John Forte Gets Sentenced Reduced By President Bush

Wyclef JeanNew MusicMore Music Videos

Fugee affiliate John Forte is reportedly one of 16 people who have received a reduced sentence or a pardon from US President George Bush. Forte was sentenced to 14 years in prison after being caught with two briefcases filled with $1.4 million worth of liquid cocaine at Newark International Airport in 2000.

Forte wrote, produced and appeared on The Fugee’s multi-platinum and Grammy-winning 1996 album, The Score. He also released two solo albums, Poly Sci and I, John.

According to The Washington Post, Forte will be released from jail on December 22nd and will face five years of supervised probation.

Senator Orrin Hatch, singer Carly Simon and her son James, were among the people who advocated for Forte’s release.

“Now is the perfect opportunity for John to be given the chance to provide positive benefits to society through his considerable musical talents,” Hatch wrote to Bush in a January 2007 letter.

Forte was one of two inmates who received reduced sentences. Bush pardoned 14 others.
