9.29.98 – Best Release Day ever
Long gone are the days where the boys and I would wait at midnight at Tower Records to buy albums such as Murder was the Case and Tical. Now, I am decently surprised when I get a link to an album I want in my inbox. The test now is to be patient and anti-hedonistic enough to hold off to the release date to download an album. On 9.29.98, I had one of my biggest days in hip-hop collecting, where 5 dope albums were released. Still on a college budget, I planned for a whole month how to afford the near $100 in CDs. I was going to buy. Contra & the TSS crew were first to recognize this day (thanks for the pic) but Complex just put up a cool write-up with pics. Stop by both places and come back to leave a comment or two with us.

sorry, maybe i misunderstood (im not all that versed in hiphop)
but did you mean 2008 or 1998…. otherwise u are still in college and 5 great albums dropped yesterday…….. all i know is that i heard somehwere that the new Large Professor album is dropping today, featuring a beat by Marco Polo, one of my best homies’ best homies…… if y’all dont know, marco polo does some crazy beats…. also has a song on the new Heltah skeltah album…… im out!
i guess people really do read this site. i changed the title. my bad for the confusion
LOL. Why wouldn’t they!?!? Fix the date in the post as well.
copped Murs, Heltah Skeltah, & Skillz (even though Million Dollar Backpack has been out for a while, I’ve been listening to it repeatedly, so I HAD to support)
D.I.R.T. is grimey! Ignorant knucklehead lyrics and beats to match…nothing more. nothing less. From the first song I heard on the leak I KNEW I was gonna buy it…
AND MURS?! GREAT ALBUM. Best music purchase in recent memory.
I’m more than happy to give my hard-earned cash to artists to who put their all into their craft…they deserve it, especially the independent ones.
and there’s so much shit I’ve downloaded but haven’t listened to, like Ice Cube, T.I., Killer Mike, Immortal Technique…pretty sure I might end up buying one or 2 of those…maybe
Now all I gotta do is hunt down that Madlib, then wait on Jake One & Foreign Exchange, and that’s it. I’ll be straight.
stay up
