Memories of an album… KMD – Mr. Hood

After hearing “The Gas Face”, I couldn’t get enough of Zev Luv X’s voice. So I was esctatic when KMD finally dropped in 1991. The tape was on rotation for quite some time at my house. The flows and concept of the album kept me enthralled. Nitty Gritty and Peachfuzz became soundtracks to those days. I thank Travis at WYDU for reminding of this great album. His write up is way better than mine would be so just browse over for a second. By the way, this is before Zev Luv X became the MF the Impostor. He wasn’t the same after his brother, Subroc, died. (Interesting fact: My first weekly hip-hop night I put on LA was named Subroc in dedication to him). I am still amazed by the number of “true hip-hop” fans that don’t realize that Doom is crap compared to what he used to flow like.
