Skillz – Hip-Hop Confessions (video)

Skillz starts a new video series called Hip-Hop Confessions.  The title pretty much says it all. He’s just bringing some much needed honesty to the game, especially us fans of the culture and music.  Instead of Keep It Real, let’s Keep It Honest – word to JGilla.  Its refreshing and emapthetic to hear these guys admit the things they have.

I’ll give you my hip-hop confession…

“Even thought I am a major Public Enemy fan, I only own one PE album (Fear of A Black Planet).”

*I invite all my KTL Crew and any of our readers to leave a comment with their hip-hop confession, if you are so brave.  If you leave one, I’ll match you one and give you another personal hip-hop confession. Let’s see who can do it. *

I can not tell the difference between Currensy, Mickey Factz, Skyzoo, Esso, French Montana or Stat Quo bc I’ve never listenend to any of their songs.

I think Deeper Than Rap will somehow be better than 50’s next album.

And I’ve never listened to any of Asher Roth’s music. EVER.

Since I got 3 more since the last comment, here are three new ones:

    - I actually owned Vanilla Ice’s first album as a kid.

    - I still can’t recognize Big L’s voice on record.

    - I just listened to “The Genesis” on Illmatic for the first time 2 years ago. I always just skipped it.

I can’t believe I am going to confess this:
In 1995 when I heard Montell Jordan’s ‘This is how we do it’ not only did i not recognize the Slick Rick sample, but I acutely started crediting Montell Jordan for making a great beat. I know, I know.
Oh, and one more thing…I shot TuPac.
Man, that is a huge weight of my shoulders, thanks guys.
    AMART OUT!

    - The only way I found out about Frankie Beverly and MAZE was bc of the New Jersey Drive Soundtrack.

  12. Hip-Hop Confessions – Episode 2 (pt. 1) : Know the Ledge on July 13th, 2009 at 10:13 am

[...] The first episode was such a great conversation piece. I think all 20 KTL followers will agree that Episode #2 will keep the momentum. So good that they cut it into two parts! (No Lorena Bobbitt). Big up to Skillz! This entry was posted by DJ Franchise a/k/a Stringer Fell on Monday, July 13th, 2009 at 10:10 am and is filed under hip-hop.
