Ice Cube – Albums that Shook a Nation

Ice Cube. Say what you want about him and his now “softer” image but this man made some truly historical and socially conscious music in his prime years. I am posting up some of the original albums and remixes from those albums to get you back into state of mind of reflection, anger, and action. Track listing and links after the jump. I am interested in hearing our KTL readers thoughts on Cube’s music, image, and impact in the comments section. Shout out to Pup on this one!

I just got done watching this documentary on N.W.A. tonight, so I’d better say what I have to say while it’s fresh on my mind, lol.
He’s a Hip-Hop Legend. Sure, he’s branched out & diversified his endeavors in the entertainment industry, but his catalog/discography is something no one can ever front on. I don’t think he ever made any compromises in his musical content and how he wanted to present it. There was never any fluff in his music, and there was always substance. I’m sure when the term “Conscious Rap” is mentioned, heads tend to think of Native Tongues, but Ice Cube’s music was just as conscious, not to mention riveting, engaging, & incendiary.
Piggybackin on Teef’s comments….Let us not forget that O’Shea Jackson has left his stamp on the Hollywood Game..Doughboy in Boyz in the Hood, Fudge in Higher Learning…Screenwriting 1995 Classic Friday..with Next Friday and Friday after Next to follow…Barbershop just to name a few…Cube was once asked: Do you prefer doing movies or records?” Cube responds, “If opportunities present they self, you take them. I think I can do this from all different sides of entertainment,”
@ teef – couldn’t have said it better. if you ever wanna guest blog….
