One of the best films this year… Funny Games

Just rented this DVD on a whim and ended up watching one of the most unsettling movies that I can remember.

I consider myself well-versed in the horror genre and I thought I knew what to expect… Family goes to their lake house, intruders take them hostage and then the fun ensues. I was right on the first 2 parts and very wrong on the last. By the end credits I was disturbed, exhausted and extremely impressed with this film (ok, the ending wasn’t so great but everything else is perfect).

In my opinion, this movie rivals “Audition” and “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer” and definitely surpasses “Hostel” for being ones of the most fucked up movies out there. I can go into deeper nerdier shit like precision perfect camera angles, classic style, superb acting, etc. but I recommend just watching it find out for yourself.

(Who would’ve thought that what people really need to be afraid of are spoiled white rich kids with too much time on their hands. Go figure.)
