The Hip-Hop Caucus

hip-hopcaucus

I have been feeling bad recently about the lack of posting of electoral or political issues since the Obama inaugration.  Its been this guilt of feeling like a bandwagon politico.  So I am trying to do more of an effort of dropping some knowledge the political front as well.  Let’s See how I do.

The homie, KG, sent me an article today talking about a bill the Hip-Hop Caucus is pushing forward to the senate for driving young voter registration.  The HHC is headed by Rev. Lennox Yearwood and was founded in 2004.  Yearwood is no naive youngster to the politics.  He has been instrumental in Diddy’s “Vote or Die” campaign, Rusell Simmons Hip-Hop Summit, Jay-Z’s “Citizen Change”, and T.I.’s “Respect My Vote“.  An interesting group and one that is trying to make change from within the system.
