@ jeff. I usually don’t reply to this stuff but, jeff, I think you need do to three things:
1) Understand your own insecurities/issues of race
2) Educate yourself on the degrees of institutional racism in this country and globally
3) See the Obama administration (even if its a PR move) as step forward for social equality for this country (even if its just a perception)

btw, if a bunch of white people made a web site like this and chit-chatted about how great white people were, guess what they would be: RACIST. get over yourselves. black people and white people are no different except the color of their skin. until everyone starts acting like that nothing will change. the way black people alienate white people on sites like this is only adding to the problem.

The Obamas are the epitome of what “The Human Race” should BE about: LOVE. Afrikans are the innovators of the world, the first at everything. God himself; image was Ethopian. This article is poorly written in every way. The message and thesis is garbled. The point of view is unsubstaniated. The sentences are incredibly lengthy and confusing. The piece is disorganized and inconclusive at the very least. It is sad that so very few writers or politicians for that matter know so little about race. There is no such thing as race. MLK and his wife were much more progressive about “racial issues” white ,black or other than Barack and Michelle.
I only wish we as Americans can reach a higher level of thoughtfulness about what race and racism, separatism and integration REALLY mean in our society. INtegrate your mind!

This was an awesome piece! Fair and Balanced. I’m Baltimore and for sure the most important issues for me is not reparations, slavery, whitey its these GANGS (will my son be able to go to school in peace in the fall), FORECLOSURE (will I be able to keep/maintain my home), and OPPORTUNITY (not just cause I know someone working for the company I’m applying to but because I am qualified to do the job), its CRIME(less than 300 is STILL TO MANY DEAD PEOPLE)you listening DIXON/BEECHFIELD???

I told my children that if Obama was nominated I would fly the American flag from every door and window in my house.

I bought the flags yesterday. I am so proud. God Bless Barack Obama for having the courage to take this on…to wade into hatred every day is not an easy thing as Martin and Malcolm and other freedom fighter discovered.
