Its seeing a video like this that I have to agree with Combat Jack that Mos Def Sucks. Black Thought are caught behind the scenes at the BET Hip-Hop Awards Cypher shoots, reciting famous lines from the Roots’ “&5 Bars”. Why can’t Mos be like this a majority of the time versus his wanna-be jazz scant alter ego. New Danger > Ecstatic. Via TRU.

Last night, the BET awards was on. I didn’t watch but I was anticipating the freestyle segments after everybody tweeted about them a few weeks ago. The hype around Nikki Minaj and Joe Buddens freestyle was just that – hype. After looking at all the videos, I might have to say that I think its tie between Mos and Eminem. And I am not even big fans of thiers. Dre at NR hooked up an mp3 of all the freestyles. So thank him later (c) Drake.
So apparently Jay-Z wouldn’t let Chris Brown take the stage at the BET Awards last night. Rumors are flying around that Jay-Z heard that Chris Brown was going to do a tribute to Michael Jackson, and told BET that if they let him do that, Jay would cancel his performance. Chris Brown reportedly rehearsed for three days before the show and was abruptly told that he wasn’t going to be going on stage.
Oh ya, did I tell you that it is Jay-Z day today?

Last Saturday the BET held an award show honoring African Americans Achievers, but stop short when it came to giving a nod to one of most thought provoking authors and social commentators of this generation, Aaron Mcgruder. Many believe Mcgruder was undoubtedly passed-over due to his passed criticism of the BET’s programming; criticism found in his groundbreaking comic strip, and television show, The Boondocks.

Great Interview that has Frank Lucas and Nicky Barnestalking to each other after many years have passed. In somewhat of a parallel, Jay-Z is to Frank Lucas as Dame is to Nicky Barnes. Matter of fact, Dame is making a movie called “Mr. Untouchable” based on the life of Nicky Barnes. Check BET on the 31st for the Frank Lucas’ story on American Gangsta (the TV show).
