Jay-Z – On to the Next One (video)

What better way to start Know The Ledge’s year off with than a Jay-Z video! Arguably the best track on Blueprint 3, “On to the Next One” continues series of black & white videos (minus, Death of Autotune) from the Blueprint 3 album. Directed by Sam Brown, I think this is a visually stunning video that incorporates messages of art criticism, defamation of cars not even released yet, and just weird imagery. Others are claiming Masonry and Illuminati references in there, too. Some people hate this video but I say… I’m going to avoid using the song title for the millionth time since 1/1/10. By the way, my 2 week hiatus is over, suckas! We are back in effect!

Jay-Z – Empire State of Mind

Jay’s classic anthem from Blueprint 3. A song of inspiration and awesome imagery. Makes me wanna be a better person. Sad that NY is playing out and you guys are gonna end up hating it in 3 months. I’ll keep playing it on the West Coast for you.

Jay-Z – Rhapsody Blueprint 3 Ad (video)

The album leaked late last night/early this morning and people are making their opinions. I am excited to listen to it in its entirety than just the leaks in the last week. Even though, I am dead broke – I will still cop it with Raekwon’s Only Built For Cuban Linx 2. The ad that Rhapsody created should get you more hype to get you more excited for the album! Props to Dan for the vid.

Jay-Z – Death of Autotune ** UPDATED **

So last Friday, Jay-Z got hip-hop buzzing again with his new track DOA – Death of Autotune. Battle Jay was back and he gave this directly to the New York Hip-Hop radio versus the internet or other means. From a beat perspective, if this is what we can expect from Jay on The Blueprint 3 when it drops on Sept. 11, then he could have a classic just on the production alone. His lyrics aren’t as scathing as they were on Takeover or Superugly, but I guess dissing RnB robots is not as big of a threat as Nas – so why go to that level to talk about DJ Webstar and Ron Browz. Is Autotune dead after this, probabaly not completely. But, with Jay-z hip-hop cultural influence, it will be as cool to do autotune as wearing a throwback jersey is. In any case, I think this is a dope song and has me anticipating more leaks from BP3. Props to Snicka for the instrumental.

Jay-Z – When the Money Goes

jayz

Supposedly a new cut from the Blueprint 3.  Its a leak, not a single.  New York radio got their hands on it this morning and its been on repeat out there. I’m helping to bring it to the Fresh Coast and internets friends.  Good vibe to it.  I think this is Jay’s rhetorical question to the recession – shit’s depressin’.  Uh, uh, you like that, you like that?  Tried to get clever with it.  Have a smarter day.
