I wish all of hip-hop took the time to think just a quarter as much as Jay Smooth does. I feel like he is our new KRS-One. While the rest of the world is clowning Charles Hamilton, including myself, Jay takes a moment to analyze CH’s behavior and provide some constructive feedback. Last month, I did a small blurb that Charles Hamiton was Duqie and got some good responses. But, the homie Jessie H. went in on his list of rappers if they were characters on The Wire. Whenever I see Charles Hamilton on the webs or MTV Jams, I can’t help but think he’s hip-hop’s “Dukie”. Am I alone on this?
“Brooklyn Girls” has grown on me over the last few months and the hook really is infectious. I have never heard a rapper whose constipation-flow was so hypnotizing. (Really… he sounds like he raps with a tough one coming out!) But after seeing him online freestyling and hearing his tough childhood of being poor & homeless, I couldn’t stop to think, he’s like “Dukie”. He’s smart, broke, doesn’t fit in, likes computers, wears the same clothes… Maybe its just a physical resemblance. Video after the jump to see what you think.
The question I pose then is, if Charles Hamilton is Duquan; which up and coming rappers are Namond, Michael and Randy? KTL community – share your thoughts.
