Welcome 2009! Here are some older mixes to get you to reminisce about what is possible for good music in 2009. Hope it gets you to smile and bob your head (pause). I haven’t played these joints in my set in awhile think I should when I DJ in LA next weekend. Holla at me if you want to come through.
Because I am in a good mood that the holidays are over, I’m gonna give you a two-fer this Friday. Have a good time with them!
To make up for forgetting to post a mix last Friday, I’ll make up for it by posting a mix that will get you ready for New Year’s! There is no Fat Man Scoop or Countdown on it but I am pretty positive that its going to get the party started for you. At a minimum, it’ll keep the dancefloor moving while you’re waiting for your DJ to arrive or take a pee break. Thanks for all the support in 2008 and if you are in the bay, get ready for a dope 1-year party of FLAVOR in January!
Here is a little bit more of a club mix I did for you all. I especially like the beginning. Something to help you get ready as you pick an outfit to wear tonight. Speaking of going out, if you are in San Francisco - come out to see me and Sake1 spin at Levende. RSVP here to get on the discounted guestlist (time is running out). I am very excited for the night. Your thoughts are always welcomed!
Just a reminder that I’ll be at Levende Lounge tomorrow evening. I’ll be spinning with of the Bay Area’s great DJs and someone I look up to in this game, Mr. DJ Sake1. We’ll be sharing the same stage for the first time. I’ve been working on my set all week. I plan to impress and have a good time. RSVP at Going.com to get on the guestlist. Insider information: I’ll be on from 9:30 to 11 and maybe sometime later. So arrive on-time, which is early for most of you!
Wow, its been a month of posting these mixes. Time flies.
Here is a mix of some true hip-hop heads ish that I had fun making for those moods where you just want some smoothed hip-hop that got you into the feeling of head-nodding and rhyme-alongs. Played this at a party and instant club status - when they throw Ain’t My Type of Hype in House Party. So have fun with it this weekend and check me at Sugar Lounge this weekend or at Levende Lounge next Fri with Sake1 in San Francisco. Holla!
Happy early Turkey Day. Lots to be thankful for but I would like to thank all 11 readers of our blog. (That’s right, we get 1 new fan a month - that’s progress!) I am treating this Wednesday like a Friday b/c I am not sure how much I can post till next Monday - I have a move, thanksgiving dinner, and DJ gigs this weekend.
I decided to post a mix that you could play for the family this weekend. I figured the last few have been for us, why not do something for the family? So here is a mix that you can play with your parents, as you let them win at their favorite board game. (We play Cranium.) As always, thanks for the love and comments on the mixes. Expect a collabo between KTL and Way More Fresher in the works. If you are in the Bay this weekend, stop by Sugar Lounge and say hi to me as I DJ my soul out.
Hey fam! Its Friday and based on the emails & comments last week, here is another installment of Franchise Friday Mixes. That’s not the real name of my Friday mixes, I just made up that cheesy title right now. Thanks for the love though on the last mix posted. (KTL X WMF… like the sound of that!) Hope you like this one for the weekend. I’ll let you guess the tracklist when you listen to it. And a random shout out to my peeps like Q-Tip on a Tribe song, thanks to Brett, AMART, Christine, and Jason from Individual Sole that were at the Scratch Session at Namu last night. Breaking ground there.
Hey KTL lovers! I wanted to send over a mix I did of 90’s hip-hop that has a little funk and will add a some bang to your trunk (pause). Its a short 15 min mix to get your weekend started. Or… you can use this as way to school your friends tonight by seeing if they know every song. If I get enough comments that you like it, maybe I’ll post a new mix every Friday. Its up to you! P.S. for those that made it our the KTL 1-Year Anniversary party, this one is on the limited edition CD we handed out.
I’ll be down in LA for the weekend for work but got a DJ gig in Santa Ana for OBEY’s Friday night at the Crosby. Small place but filled with good times. Playing a west coast set for my peeps. its been awhile since I’ve played a set of strictly gangsta ish.
No cover or dress code but sure it will be packed. More info here. Hope to see some of the KTL fam there!
