Nation posted the pilot episode of HBO’s new Sunday show, How To Make It in America. I didn’t get to finish the whole thing but the first 14 minutes looked dope. Plus, its crazy homegirl from Rules Of Attraction. (I think A.Flores liked her but not sure.) Anyways, check it out tell me what you think.

The Wire guru, David Simon, was given the greenlight to create a new series for HBO that will follow the history of the C.I.A. and its impact on politics for the 20th century. Although this has been done in series and movies for awhile, I think we can expect a more profound, impacting view from our favorite ex-Baltimore Sun employee. Also, he plans on doing a 6-part series on the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Simon’s current project, Treme, began filming in March. Simon, a fan of New Orleans jazz and the city itself, has Lester and Bunk playing two civil rights attorneys after the tragedy of the levees breaking during Hurricane Katrina. Time to get ready to upgrade my cable again. (Source)

Who knew Peter was a Flight of the Conchords fan? Watch for the Rosenberg “ouch” towards the end – almost as bad as the Kanye interview “ouch” HBO for the win again. Just rewatched season 1 on DVD for the second time. Season 2 better be good and not flop like Heroes.
Murray: He may be dead.
Dave: He maybe did what?
Murray: No, he may be dead.
Dave: What didn’t he maybe do?
Murray: He maybe *dead*.
Bret: Dead.
Dave: Are you guys fucking with me?
Murray: He maybe dead, not alive.
Dave: Ohh…

Revisit the grittier side of Baltimore in an enormous DVD set this December. The Wire: The Complete Series will be released on DVD on December 9. This 23-disc set will contain every episode from the HBO drama’s five-season run and will be priced at $249.99 SRP. No special features details were released, but we’ll update this story as soon as we have more information. The series stars Dominic West, John Doman, Wendell Pierce and Lance Reddick.
Snoop has been arrested for failure to cooperate and some minor drug possessions.
Felicia “Snoop” Pearson, the actress who played a cold-blooded killer of the same name on the HBO series The Wire, was arrested on minor drug charges yesterday after police picked her up for refusing to cooperate as a witness in a murder trial, records show.
Members of the homicide unit forced entry into the 28-year-old’s Northeast Baltimore home Wednesday morning to serve a “body attachment” warrant, which would allow authorities to detain her, if necessary, until the Sept. 16 murder trial of Steven James Lashley.
Once inside the home, police said, they found two cigars containing suspected marijuana in an upstairs bedroom, and “loose plant material” was recovered from the top of a kitchen cabinet. Pearson was charged with one count of drug possession yesterday and was being held at Central Booking.
Authorities said Pearson watched Lashley stab three men, killing one, after an argument that began outside New York Fried Chicken on The Block in the fall of 2005, and she is expected to be called as a witness during the trial.
If you are in New York you should check out this discussion about the wire, it is tonight.
The Wire concluded its fifth and final season this year as one of the most acclaimed dramatic series in television history. David Simon, who created, produced, and wrote many episodes, shaped The Wire’s panoramic view of Baltimore-the newspaper, drug trade, port, city government, and schools-has said, “It is really about the American city and how we live together.” This behind-the-scenes program will include a conversation with David Simon, novelist Richard Price (who wrote five episodes), and cast members Seth Gilliam (who played Sgt. Ellis Carver), Clark Johnson (city editor Gus Haynes), Lance Reddick (Lieutenant Cedric Daniels), and Wendell Pierce (Detective William “Bunk” Moreland).
With David Simon, Richard Price, Seth Gilliam, Clark Johnson, Lance Reddick, Wendell Pierce, and Clarke Peters in person. Presented by Museum of the Moving Image at the Times Center, Manhattan.
First Surprise. The new Entourage Season 5 trailer went online. I am sure those of you with HBO have already seen it. Not a whole lot of info but looks to be fun. Random note: I got into a conversation the other day with a few homegirls that said “Entourage is just Sex & the City for boys”. I replied that only girls who don’t watch the show think that.
Second surprise. The Wire was AGAIN not nominated for an Emmy this year. Sad, that in its genius 5 seasons, it was only nominated once and that was for writing in 2005. Not that I look to the Emmy’s or any other award show for critical validation but you would think that if the future President of United States is a fan, it deserves some attention. (Actually, I retract that statement b/c if we really thought like that we would all be coloring pictures vs. blogging due to our current President’s interests.) After the jump, David Simon’s farewell letter to the Wire fans. Props to WMD, HHDX, and HBO for the info… Read the rest of this entry »
