Peter Rosenberg x Jay Electronica Full Interview by fwmj
Man, pure dopeness. Imagine how dope that would feel to be in the middle of crowd reciting your words and they don’t even speak english. Shock you like an eel, electric feel, Jay Electra. Thanks, Frank.
When was Jay was in town a few weeks ago, he had Mos Def open for him. BMUSE caught some footage of the two doing Exhibit C. In typical Jay Elect fashion, he goes acapella to make sure you really hear what he is saying. Can’t blame the man!
Hip-Hop heads and football aficionados will appreciate that Jay Elect-willywonka is a sports dude at heart. If you follow him on Twitter, then you already know. With the Superbowl on Sunday, I am going for the Saints along with Jay but I am cheering that Mike Hart plays well. GO BLUE! On a sidenote, didn’t know Jay had a Raekwon grill. Just sayin’. Via NR.
Filmed in Nepal and Dubai, Jay Electronica gave us a 46 second clip of the visuals associated with his stellar song, “Exhibit A”. Before there was “Exhibit C”, there was this… (spotted at FWMJ)

Best song of 2009. Period. Possibly within all of music I heard this year. Seriously. If you don’t know, no hard feelings. This is time for you to catch up. If you do know, buy yourself an extra gift for X-mas. You deserve it. Friend and DJ, Sake1, made an edit for fellow song selectors that gives you an 8 bar intro and little faster BPM. You can download the edit, but support real hip-hop and go to Itunes and buy it! Really. I am gonna stop talking and let you experience some greatness before the end of the 2009.

So I heard that Talib and Rhettmatic surprised the LA crowd at Boombox a few Saturdays ago by bringing out these heavyweights (minus J. Cole) on stage to perform some new Reflection Eternal. This is monstrous. 2010 is gonna a great year for music. Feeling re-inspired. Thanks Dukes for the heads up! And if you don’t know Dukes, he not only represents BK but dated Natalie Portman.

The picture above means a lot to me because both Nas and Jay in the last year have experienced some highlights and challenges in their relationships and personal lives that have mirrored my own. So, I’ve been looking out for them and their music to find comfort, empathy, and direction.
Last night, the world got their glance of “Exhibit C” from Jay Electronica. “Exhibit A” is mainstay and favorite of mine. And to hear this song, I am feeling real right about life and hip-hop right now. Let’s take on this world with courage, my friends. Sadly, I know most of you don’t have Jay’s music and my library isn’t taht deep – I’ll give you some unreleased and starter material. Props to him, him, and them for the links. Full transcript of “Exhibit C” after the jump.

Jay has been working with Just Blaze recently to create some new magic for our souls. I originally thought this was called “Exhibit C” (where is Exhibit B?) but the internet homie, Frank, said its called Dear Moleskine (as in the journal). With my daughter in my arms, I feel inspired. Sidenote: Jay had his little girl about a week or so after mine. Kinda feel connected in wierd way when he tweets similar things about his girl.
So… for the now 10 people that read our site, you know that I was playing host to Rosenberg this weekend. A gentleman and great DJ – that Rosenberg is. Alot of our talks were about either girls, hip-hop, food, and/or hoe-ass marks. One of the hip-hop discussions that we talked about while driving through the Bay was Jay Electronica. I let Peter know that I’ve been on the fence about him. I was put-off by the video of his first live performance but his production on “Queens Get The Money” changed my world. So although I couldn’t accept Peter’s invitation to go to Rock The Bells b/c of a wedding, I did meet up with him at the Afterparty. It was there that Jay put on a small set and I must say, like Rosenberg, I can co-sign for the dude. He’s the truth. Little rough around the edges but I can see him being great very soon. No septor on him though, that was disappointing. More videos of his performance and special bday shout-out after the Jump. Read the rest of this entry »
