OKP does a pretty insightful interview with the Teacher, Krs-One. Not to detract from his crowd-rocking abilities or historical accomplishments, there are times when I feel that KRS-One is full of himself. But not in this article, I think he speaks enlighteningly of some of the new generation of hip-hop figures and what we can do to “Stop The Violence”. Full interview after the jump…

As mentioned before, Smirnoff is dropping some dope remakes for the hip-hop nation. The first of the three dropped today. Feel free to cop. In another collabo news, Ice Cube is teaming up with Lyrics Born for a free concert at SXSW.

XXL Mag reports that KRS-1 is retroing the Stop The Violence Movement. Last week hip-hop artists got together in LA (coincidentally around the Grammys) to record the track. Confirmed to record (not necessarily be on the track) are: The Game, Chamillionaire, Nelly, David Banner, Rakaa Iriscience, Planet Asia, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg, Fat Joe, Cassidy, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Lil Mama, Talib Kweli and MC Lyte. A snippet is planned to drop next week. I just came to the realization that some of the KTL readers may not know what we are talking about. Please see the video and wiki for reference:

Smirnoff and Cornerstone Promotions are promoting their new Smirnoff Signature Mix drinks. For this campaign Common and Just Blaze will remake “The Light,” Q-tip and Cool n Dre will redo Tribe’s “Midnight,” and KRS-One and DJ Premier will make a new version of “Criminal Minded.” The latter is the one I am most excited about. Nike and Hip-Hop (via Just Blaze and Primo) were a good team, let’s see if Smirnoff can reach that standard.
All of the artists will be perform their classics live at the Smirnoff/Cornerstone launch party on Feb, 26th. The actual remakes will be available as a free download on Smirnoff.com later. Stay tuned for more info. Speaking of info, this was all due to Miss Info. One day we will make her blogroll. (hint, hint)
