?uesto dropped a gem on the world today via his Twitter. (By the way, I’ve joined the bandwagon and became a Twitter person too.) Anyways, I thought it was cool that we hit the 10th anniversary of “Miseducation” last week and now we get some unreleased material. I am still bumping the Unplugged album and the “Lose Yourself” joint from last year is still slept on. Let me know whether you guys think its garbage or not…

Its been 10 years. 10 years. 1 Decade to the week that this record came out. Why does it feel that this album was not released that long ago? Out of college, this was a perfect storm of a record. It had the musical integrity that we so dearly loved in a hip-hop record and the popular appeal that we love so that we can share the experience with our friends. This was an album that had little to no skippable tracks. An album that inspired men to be better to their women and women of color to be strong, open, and emotional. White girls thought they could actually empathize with Lauryn b/c her hurt, voice, and words were so real. How could you ignore the emotions when she sang “care for me, care for me” at the end of Ex-Factor?
I remember going to see her perform at Universal Amphitheater in LA and seeing Raekwon getting excited about the show. I remember feeling this was a true “hip-hop” show. She changed mindsets and inspired musicianship. This is not the Lauryn we know currently but we know this one album changed us as a culture. FWMJ was the first to remind of this anniversary and was so kind to let us know of a 10th anniversary interview at Rolling Stone. For those blind to these words, please download and grow. Full interview after the jump…

I know must of us have a LH Ipod Playlist. This is a compilation to make sure you got all of the remixes and tracks you are looking for. If any one has the J. Period mixtapes, please post them in the comments.
