In my opinion the best photographer in America, Estevan took a moment to sit down with Ruby Hornet to talk about how he got started in the photography game, his encounters with De Niro, and why he’s better than most photographers out there today. AMART, I think you’ll appreciate his honest approach to his shots and photography jargon. There are even mentions of Ricky Powell and Terry Richardson. Lesson readers should learn after reading the interview, never fire a gun sideways. This is Part 1. We’ll post Part 2 later. Full interview after the jump…

I love this girl even more. I did my research and its her. After the jump, see what Cartoon said about her visit to the shop. DFLO & Anthony, I think she can give you some competition on cooler tattoos.

Estevan Oriol’s 2009 calendar in now available at his store. 3 words: “Perfect Birthday Present”. Not sure where I would hang it. And not sure if I ever want my daughter posing for the calendar but appreciate the artisitcs integrity. BTW, Cartoon has some shots of the MESA Contemporary Arts Opening.

Mr. Cartoon’s famous Ice Cream truck has left its time at the Petersen Automotive Museum (aka the deathplace of Biggie) to go back home. Its a real remarkable piece of artwork. Click on the picture to enlarge and appreciate the detail. My brothers and I first saw it at the Nike Blue House when Cartoon did his Cultura thing there awhile back. If you get a chance one day to see it, make the trip and effort - you’ll be impressed. Some words and more pics as it goes home after the jump…

The City of Angels (as dope as it is) just up’d its game by adding an already established staple store and introduced a soon to be cool kids mecca in the opening of UPPERPLAYGROUND LA and the LAST LAUGH store by Mister Cartoon and Estevan Oriol. I went to the openings, it was like Hot August Nights in downtown and could have spent $1000 on tshirts… and now, I think I am going to move to the building across the street.
***UPDATE: VIMBY - Upper Playground LANew Video from Estevan

Straight from Estevan’s and Cartoon’s sites, word is that they are collaborating to bring you the “Righteous Kill Experience” when it releases in August. The poster above is one that the duo created for the theaters. First, you have DeNiro and Pacino working together (we got close to seeing it in GF II and Heat but they did not share more than 10 minutes screen time combined in both films) and now you got two of the best of Latino LA on the project. Much respect to the homies for representing LA on a dope project! Full details after the jump…

Crash at mun2 does an interview with SA Studios. Estevan has a classic first line in the interview. Cameos from B-Real, Evidence, Cartoon, Skinhead Rob, Muggs, and Pyscho Realm. Kickin’ knowledge as always. Estevan and Cartoon - you guys have supplied my closet with posters and shirts. Thanks for keeping me fly and representing!
