Its sad that the Daily Show and Colbert Report are the only places beyond the internet where I get my political news from. Nas appeared out of nowhere on the Colbert Report last night. But it was cool to see him perform and talk about his petition actions earlier that day at Fox. After the jump is his interview with Colbert. Good times… Read the rest of this entry »

The brother with the best fades in hip-hop and who is going to hell for snuffing Jesus drops his most agrressive, artistic piece of work today. Most of you have it downloaded but if Weezy can do a milli, why can’t Esco? I’ll be at Best Buy today and will get my self a free t-shirt. Support the movement.
***UPDATE: MC Serch interviews Nas just a few days go.

Nas goes in on Fox, O’Reilly, and Rupert on this joint. Wes gave you the BET-friendly “Hero” video before (which I love). Here is the “For Internet Screens Only” version of Sly Fox. Nas be checking the blogs b/c he got Jay and Minya up in there. Don’t trust anyone who watches Fox on the regular. Any coincidence that Jesse Jackson’s playa-hater comments about Barack were on a Fox show? I think not. Jay Smooth’s behind the scenes footage after the jump…
First Video for Nas’s upcoming “Untitled” cd. I read that they are using this song in the new batman commercials, anyone seen them? I can see this song running at the end credits of the movie. On another note the album is picking up steam on my itunes. I wasn’t able to go through the 2nd street tunnel because of this video, THANKS.

Rosenberg hit up NY last night with a heavy set of Nas classics and new material. I think I put it best when I told J.GIlla to “wear some loose pants at work b/c you may get a hard-on.” On a sadder note, I heard Juan Epstein is taking the Arrested Development/Chappelle Show route and ending at its best. Too short, too soon (that’s what she said.)
or at least posted by me. I have been eagerly awaiting this album and after hearing “Hero” and “Black President” on the N***** mixtape, I am holding off to hear the whole album. Both songs came with beats and lyrics that haven’t excited me about a Nas album since “It was written”. I lied, I was also excited for “Hip-Hop is Dead”. I also believe that this upcoming album was meant to be heard in its entirety and not a collective of leaked songs. So, its blackout time for me. No new Nas snippets or leaked tracks. Everyone else has them but I am closing my eyes and holding my ears till the 15th. On a seperate note, I think “Hero” inspired me to get a new tattoo. And… anyone else think it was classic when Nas said that he “was shaking off all his pop fans” from his second album for the last few years on his mixtape? Don’t understimate the kid.

I don’t have enough for a full posting today, as I had to drop my girl off at the subway today. Yes, Los Angeles has a Subway. And not the sandwich place, but one that actually moves underground, and above ground in some places I guess.
Pete Rosenberg got a chance to catch NYOIL before his show earlier this week. He spits some very brief thoughts on Nas, the song, and hip-hop overall. Good sound bites but nothing too substantial. However, KTL’s own J-Gilla (a real life architect and avid hip-hop analyst) gives his editorial on NYOIL and this whole situation. I think this is good for hip-hop! We are seeing purveyors of the hip-hop culture actually get involved in a healthy, intelligent discourse of the music. Its not beef - its a discussion, a debate of thoughts. Picture 50 and his ignorant nonsense and we are the opposite. We are trying to get our readers and fans to grow through our differences. See what J-Gilla has to say after the jump and you’ll be 10% smarter…
