I will be doing my small part to get Obama in office by DJing at a Fundrasier/Gathering for Obama tomorrow evening at the Mezzanine in San Francisco. Generation Obama will be hosting it and we have Goapele and the Mayor of SF on the bill as well. Should be an inspirational time. Hope you can make it if you are in the bay. For those of you that have made it out to any of the Parties for Change, you will be very familiar with this mix. I’m sure it will be the soundtrack at all the Obama Debate viewing parties and hopefully, the celebration on Nov. 4th. Its def worth your time to listen to the messages and DJ skill of Z-Trip. Informed by EastofLA.com. I need to get better about checking the OBEY and Z-trip sites more often.

I spotted this at Bol’s blog and my immediate reaction was “wow, what is this about?”. A little internet research (aka Google) and what came up is that this the newest cover of the New Yorker that came out today. The intention of the cover was to be a satire of the ultra-conservative views of Obama. As a result, there has been lots of split views from the people about the cover. I admit, I am not a reader of the New Yorker and their political perspective, but I think the cover is a like a good joke told by friend who can’t tell a joke. Thanks for ruining a good punchline. A title or some caption would’ve helped. Instead, they are going to make anti-Obama fans feel like they have a new poster to post in their cubicle or college dorm. I am happy to hear that Ta-Nehisi has similar sentiments. With no direction on how to take the satire, you’ll get some really dumb people not get the joke. Kinda like when frat boys who watched Dave Chappelle and felt it was ok to say, “F*ck, yo’ catch, N!gga.” Not good…
J-Gilla sent me an article today about the Obama X Obey posters that have gotten national attention at this point. The article questions whether Shepard Fairey is hurting or helping the Obama cause. They also state that Obama himself has given the posters his stamp of approval. It was kinda cool to see some national attention/perspective from someone that is evidently outside the bubble of the campaign and art world. (Source: Dailypress)
Those kids over at Obey Giant just keep churning out those obama poster. This time it is 9 inches by 12 inches. Only 400 available and it is going to be released on obeygiant.com on April 2nd.
Is this some sort of late April fools joke? What do you think about Shepard Fairey releasing so many Obama Posters?
1) Is it healthy to hate on Kanye for his Jordan/Nike hook-up?
2) I want Obama to be President just b/c he knows who Omar is. (Props to LC for this one.)
3) Timbo and Jay-Z are a classic duo. I guess you can sub Just Bleezy, ‘Ye, and Primo in there too.
Shepard is pushing for Obama. So am I. And like Obama, I wouldn’t shake Hillary’s hand either. Get right or get left.
