OB4CL2 – Cover Art

Word is that Raekwon hired the same guy who made the first cover to recreate the cover for Part 2.  Ghost looks a little more photoshopped than I would like but you gotta respect that Rae knows what his fans want. Props to NR and Miss iNfo for the heads up.  September 8th!

Raekwon – New Wu (Video Version #2)

Raekwon shot a new video for the very dope, New Wu. Props to all DJs who still spin this at the club. The OG YN says that Ghostface couldn’t make the shoot but Rae made up with the cameos. Could Method Man be the one to reinstall the throwback to hip-hop fashion…maybe? I kinda like the first version better but just slightly. Still quality Wu, no doubt.

Raekwon – Olympus

raekwon-spider

Raekwon is getting his fans ready for this Cuban Linx 2 album.  This an unreleased joint that is not on any mixtape that I can think of.  Its rumored to be on the album.  Produced by Tru Master (“you can check my credentials” – I had to say it!), the beat is simple but effective.  If Rae keeps up with these type of beats and lyrics, I think we can count OBFCL2 a win for hip-hop. Spotted at TSS!

Raekwon – New Wu (feat Ghostface & Method Man) (video)

That ish right here… I’m feeling like its 1996 all over again. I meant to post this yesterday but was too busty replaying it all day. Mr. King of The Hip-Hop chorus, Mef, kills his appearance and its mad cool to see the Wu-Gambinos back. If this video doesn’t get you hype, go back to your Jonas Brothers downloads and merc yourself. Fellow DJs, I ask you join me and put this in your sets this weekend.  And yes, I think this is the third title I’ve heard about this song but I think “New Wu” is the official one now.

Raekwon – Criminolgy ‘09 (feat. Ghostface)

Some say this joint is blasphemy, others say a dope remake of a Wu Classic. I gave it a good listen and realized that people often throw Cuban Linx up as a clssic album but I feel people underestimate how much this album really impacted our culture. I mean, everyone came up with a gambino name after that album.  I mean there were rappers with aliases before the Purple Tape but I mean that did with such confidence.  And the skits… “blue cream”, “trying to assisanate me”, and “see it like a zenith” – I mean my college years were formed around those skits.  If you didn’t recognize any of those phrases, you were out of the cypher.  Anyways… getting sidetracked.  I think Rae & Ghost did the song justice and it def a much-needed break from all the Lil’ Wayne & Kanye conversations that hip-hop is obsesssed with.  So download and enjoy!  Thanks to TSS for the CDQ Dirty version.
