No such thing as Hip-Hop Journalism

Rafi Kim of Oh Word fame puts Complex, the LA Times, and a slew of others on blast for their lack of skill, integrity, and fearlessness. Although, I am not a hip-hop journalist nor claim to ever be one, the strength of his words does cause those of us that blog to revisit why we do. I will put his whole piece here for you to read b/c we are lazy but please take a moment and visit Oh Word to co-sign with a comment.

Oh Word’s FeMC

All the ladies mcs in the above video are featured in Oh Word’s “Female Rappers”. Their downloadable compilation is quite extensive of quality lyric-spitting females. You won’t find Da Brat on there. But I did find Lil Kim and Foxy missing to be a misstep - at least stuff from their first albums. Here is a little random party mix of female mcs i did awhile back.

…I might as well spread it to you. OhWord hooked it up with some dope Ghost Collabos. First, I find the Nas rares, then Rakim unreleased joints. Now this! Please someone stop me.
