This past weekend I had Tracy Morgan’s comedy CD on blast during my trip to Ann Arbor (which btw was great fun with the homies (II) but the loss was depressing). Too many classic lines from that comedy album:
“…his jaw like a cash register”
“…his leg was BLOW’DOFF!”
“…don’t c*m in my mouth, Tracy!”
“I no come back!”
JGilla was nice enough to send over an article where they spent a meal/evening with the NY times for an interview. Classic material (C) LONS. Also, coincidentally, Tracy was on Cipha & Rosenberg this morning with Darryl from the office. Hilarious show. Enjoy!
Rosenberg dropped the EP that we’ve been gassin’ the last few months. I think its a great compilation and what’s more impressive is that it was done with no shootings, baby mama drama, or chains getting stolen. I’m big fan of the Nikki Jean and Daytona joints. Full tracklisting after the jump. Congrats, Peter!
So, if you were in SF for the Rock The Bells pre-party in August and just happened to be there for sound check - you heard Rosenberg banging out this new EP he put together with his producer Oddisee. Since, I got a good listening to it I can say its a really solid EP and people should check for it - esp the Daytona and Nikki Jean joints. Here’s what Rosenberg has to say about it:
A week from tomorrow, I am dropping “A Rosenberg Oddisee”, six song EP recorded in one day and produced entirely by my man Oddisee. This is the first record I wanted people to hear. Saigon absolutely murders this track and Lil Fame showing up was completely random. It was truly hip hop magic and don’t you worry–it was all captured on video (more on that later). The EP features tracks from Buckshot, Skyzoo, Nikki Jean, and more. It is honestly one of the best hip hop EPs I’ve ever heard. I know I’m talking mad sh*t, but I absolutely LOVE this record. And those of you unfamiliar with Oddisee–GET FAMILIAR!
This is a clever video from the infamous R. Kelly song, Real Talk. (Dan, I was so close to playing this at the OBEY parties in SF.) Think you’ll at least have a smile. Speaking of things real, you should pay some attention to Rosenberg’s Real Late with De La Soul. Very excited about this Nike/De La project. Thanks to Fucs and Peter for the links. And if you missed the Juan Epstein with Large Professor - you all the orphans in the WHOLE WORLD! I don’t believe in God, I believe in science.

Man love at its best. Please stop by Ciph & Rosenberg and congratulate them for getting over things. First parts are manly sentimental. Second half will make you hate Ebro and Rico. Topics of discussion - love of self, tardiness, wackness, and virtue of selfishness.
So, this afternoon I was wondering why Peter hadn’t posted the most recent Cipha Sounds & Rosenberg show on Rosenbergradio.com. My plan B is always to check Ciph’s page. And that’s when Ciph declared Juan Epstein was DEAD. Now, my initial reaction was that this was joke b/c back in June they kinda pulled this shit on us, we the loyal JE fans. But after listening to the show, things definitely got heated. Now I know Peter - we aren’t college roommates/best friend status - but I know him well enough to say he’s a stand-up dude who is not perfect like the rest of us but does mean well in everything that he does. And I don’t know Ciph but he seems to me to be a dude that lives in a Black & White world that if you abide his rules and codes, life is cool. When you don’t, shit gets hectic. So listening to them argue on the air was painful. Ciph was first to post about it stopping JE altogether and thus, Peter (in my opinion) is getting the most heat. I checked in with Peter to see if this was just radio drama or the real deal and he confirmed its real. I think issues btw the two were brought to the surface in an unhealthy manner in which their producer and boss should have just shut it down and let it be discussed offline. Now, people who looked to them for entertainment and even a little of the hip-hop nerd in ourselves in somebody else will have to go somewhere else for that satisfaction. Like I would with my brothers, I hope they patch things up and realize that $150 is not that big enough of an issue to end a buddening relationship and to deny the world the greatness of Juan Epstein. Just my thoughts..
DJ Franchise and Peter Rosenberg play for a packed house at a RockTheBells Preparty in San Francisco.
FRANCHISE EDIT: A memorable night to say the least. We had the unique opportunity to work with the most unprofessional, drunk, ego-driven, unskilled Promoter (slash wannabe DJ) in my experience. I’ll let Peter tell the story one day. I’ve included my pics as well. Thanks for the fans who showed up and a shout out to Kidz in the Hall who made an appearance.
Rosenberg and I are teaming up to provide the Bay with some sounds that they have been feenin’ for. Come out to Element Lounge. Taking song requests, so leave a comment at the bottom. Guestlist closes tomorrow at 10pm, so RSVP at going.com. Since this is an “unofficial” party, I recommend all Turtle Lovers (aka Juan Epstein fans) should unofficially wear green. Don’t hate me cuz I’m stylin’ on ya! - Rosenberg.
