Jodeci - Freekin’ You Remix (feat. Ghostface & Raekwon)

jodecifreekincover

If you’re first response was “Dope! Jodeci is back AND w/ Ghostface and Raekwon!” then you should be expired or assassinated.  If you this sounds vaguely familiar or you have it then you can continue reading.  Its not new but I have been recently surprised by the number of Bay Area residents that have not heard of this remix or know of it.  I’ve now started to play it at as many gigs as possible just to see if I get a reaction from somebody.  The Ghostface verses on here are classic and were a prelude to what we would see on Supreme Clientele.

“Wu and Jodeci are like cuz-ons…”

“Pulling ladies like a hamstring”

A classic track that is much slept on!  Got a treat for you after the jump! Seriously.

Ghost, Rae, & Pharcyde on Barack

Ghostface, Raekwon, and Pharcyde were all in Denver this past weekend for Rock The Bells. MTV was there too to prepare for the Democratic National Convention. So, as the two words collided - hip-hop a& politics, MTV went and asked these artists how they felt about Barack. Some interesting quotes.  The homegirl will be giving me a scoop on the DNC since she will be there this week.  Full article after the jump.

On a total different note, KTL gives it condolences to Andre Young (Dr. Dre) who lost his son this weekend. As a future father, I can only imagine the pain/grief is it to lose your child. Stay up, homie. Our prayers are with you.

I see it like a Zenith, son…

One of my new favorite sites, The Meaning of Dope, posted a cool write-up about the Purple Tape and the adolescent anticipation of buying music in the 90’s. I def was there at Tower Records at midnight for many albums - Tical, Murder Was the Case, Cuban Linx, etc. Full write-up after the jump and go to their site to see some classic never-before-seen footage of golden-era hip-hop!

Raekwon feat. Mika “Once in a Lifetime”

I know this is one bold statement. But I am calling this the summer jam of 2008. Lollipop was up there, but this is it. Done.

Raekwon - Necro (Feat. Ghostface)

First leaked song from the OBFCL2 (for the non-Wu-Tang fans: Only Built for Cuban Linx 2). So I guess it really is coming out. Nah Right was first with it. We just messengers of the word.

Outkast X Raekwon - Royal Flush

Big Boi drops his new album, Sir Luscious Leftfoot, later this year. And to peak your interest, here is the first single - “Royal Flush”. Just call it “Skew It on the Barbie” Part 2. I mean that in a good way. Like they bringin’ ‘98 back.

Weekend Link’n

Raekwon

Trying to have me some fun. So much small news, but not enough to write a whole post about. Check out this news.

Raekwon is the man, his v-day plans, “I’m the type of dude who may be in a helicopter over the city having sex.”

Jeff Staple is whatevers, but hbo asked him to design a limited edition shirt. Thats aight.

Union LA, has a brand new website, i think it is total garbage.

Just lay whooptay whooptay?

ghost

Props to the person that knows where the Ghostface line in the title is from! Anyways, if you have been in London for the past few weeks traveling or still use dial-up to connect to the internet, then you prob don’t know that this is the new cover for the new Ghost album on Dec. 4th. I appreciate the contrasting colors and use of perspective in the shot. Great Artistry! Anyways, Ghostdini has some mature darts to spit about the recent Rae and Wu issues (via Hip-HopDX). Good insight to the man’s genius. Plus, am I the only one excited to see Walk Hard and the Ghostface cameo? I saw a trailer with him in it before American Gangster but can’t find it online. Please help.

*** UPDATE: I heard the Jack White cameo as Elvis is hilarious! Peep it in the trailer!
