Jayceeoh – Go Off (12 DJ scratch track)

JAYCEEOH_mix

Dope, dope DJ Posse Cuts.  And I love DJ Posse cuts (II). I’ll let Jayceeoh (via DJ Hedspin) tell you about the song.

“Last month I was in Vancouver and was going through some new joints and came across the Go Off track… The beat to me was asking for cuts on it… I had been kickin it with my homies Hedspin and Marvel and thought, yo we should do a quick cut track over this beat … So I chopped up the beat and sequenced it to 8-bars / hook and so forth… After we started messing with it we thought it would be dope to get a couple other people on this… So I reached out to a few people and so did my canadian comrades… Within two days I had a Dream Team of DJs on board… At that point I figured I might as well make it an even 12 DJs. Was a good number for a DJ track… Then finally on my last stop of the Canada tour I did a show with Scratch (from the Roots) in Saskatoon. I told him about the track and he was down to lay his beatbox/cuts on the intro … Icing on the cake… This track is a throwback to the good ol days when cuts were encouraged and praised. The Roster of DJs is as official as it gets… (R.I.P. Roc Raida)”

Scratch & Evil Dee – Live

There are a great number of DJs that I respect and are given due props: QBert, Mixmaster Mike, Roc Raida, Z-Trip, etc. But if there are 2 DJs that I look up b/c of their style and musical selection – Jazzy Jeff is one and Scratch is the other. Check him tear up the decks with Evill Dee (from Black Moon fame). From the always trustworthy source, GrandGood.

BONUS: Q-Tip performing Excursions and Check The Rhime at the same event. After the Jump..

First Ipod DJs, now Iphone DJs

There is a new 3rd party application where people can “scratch like a DJ” on their Iphone. Scared of the new generation of Ipod DJs. Alex… I’ll be mad if you download it. Go to Nerds With Swag for the full read on this product. They are one of my fav blogs because of their hip-hop slant on technology. And I am glad they are back in full posting mode!
