Vogue goes Black…

My homegirl Ursula let me know a few months back that Vogue Italia was planning a “Black” issue. In an effort to expose and decrease the level of racial prejudice, discrimination, and tokenism in the fashion world, photographer Steven Meisel set forth to photograph only Black models for this issue. Franca Sozzani, editor for Vogue Italia, was inspired by Steven Meisel and the Barack Obama campaign and decided to dedicate the whole issue to Black issues, celebrities, and perspective – globally but specifically from the American Black perspective.
