No words.

Khalid of The Smoking Section got a chance to sit down with the real Avon Barksdale who described his portrayal on The Wire. As expected, this is “his” side of the story. I think the part where they talk about rappers taking famous druglords name is pretty comical. Check the interview after the jump. Props to TSS crew for this one.
Wood Harris, who plays Avon on The Wire, interviews and narrates a documentary about the “real” Avon Barksdale. A straight to DVD release, I think it would be cool to learn some history about Barksdale but somehow, he looks and acts too much like a ex-drug addict for me to think he was as hardbody (II) as The Wire’s Avon was. I am interested in hearing your thoughts. (Via)

Omar’s coming, Omar’s coming. If you didn’t know Omar is getting huge, Didn’t you know that Omar Little is Obama’s favorite character:
“I gotta say Omar’s a great guy. That’s not an endorsement. That is not an endorsement. He is not my favorite person, but he’s a fascinating character– a gay gangster who only robs drug dealers and then gives back. But he’s the toughest, baddest guy on the show, and he’s gay. He’s a fascinating character.” – Obama
And he is in the latest the Road movie with Viggo morgetetgson. Here is a little interview with him about life after and during the wire.
It is Monday and you need to listen to this 100 quotes from the wire. You don’t need to watch it, just press play and get to working. My favorite “All in the game yo, all in the game.” Makes me want to watch the wire from the beginning again, for the fourth or fifth time.

KTL family member, JGILLA, let me know that the New Yorker posted an article of hip-hop’s jumping the shark and passing away as a genre. I am going to let you read the article and left my editorial for this article in the comments section. Please read and share your thoughts.
I spotted this at TSS earlier in the week and meant to post it. Never heard of this guy but thats where I can rely on Gotty & Co. to school me on new artists, plus how can i pass on Wire-themed video. Enjoy!

The Wire guru, David Simon, was given the greenlight to create a new series for HBO that will follow the history of the C.I.A. and its impact on politics for the 20th century. Although this has been done in series and movies for awhile, I think we can expect a more profound, impacting view from our favorite ex-Baltimore Sun employee. Also, he plans on doing a 6-part series on the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Simon’s current project, Treme, began filming in March. Simon, a fan of New Orleans jazz and the city itself, has Lester and Bunk playing two civil rights attorneys after the tragedy of the levees breaking during Hurricane Katrina. Time to get ready to upgrade my cable again. (Source)
It does change the dynamic of the show. I laughed.
There are a few hip-hop artists that I will always stop and listen to an interview because they are so damn entertaining. That list goes: Method Man, N.O.R.E., Raekwon, and Ghostface. Meth shares with us here some eating habits, his upcoming movie with Michael from The Wire, and his memories of stank female MCs. Thanks to ML for the heads up on this one!
