Those that know me KNOW that I am psyched for this movie. I am Dark Knight levels for this movie. Already searching for midnight showing tix. That means, that I am buying into the hype and I’m downloading, playing, watching, and searching for all that is Watchmen. So I came across word that the UK Watchmen site and found that they made a Nintendo-esque game of the Minutemen crew (those that read the graphic novel, know who they were). Reminiscent of the TMNT arcade games, you’re just kicking and punching your way to the highest score. Iwas ranked #364 from all the worldwide players. WHAT?! Go to the site to play.
So after getting my iPhone, I’ve been asking everybody for recommended apps and spending alot of time at the iTunes application store. After doing my millionth random search of terms (i.e. baby songs, jay-z, dj hip-hop, jessica alba), I typed in “Watchmen” and found an app! I’ve been pretty impressed with it so far. It has all the trailers, snippets of the Motion Comics, and some behind-the-scenes clips. Plus, if you are a Watchmen stan like me, check out the new viral site – The New Frontiersman. Fans of the graphic novel will recognoze the name and appreciate that two new Watchmen DVDs are dropping around the movie premiere. Consider this a good use of two hours of your day.
Movie of 2009? Possibly. Def the “Dark Knight” of next year. After reading the novel, very interested on how Zack Snyder will get this to the big screen. (BTW, everyone should read the graphic novel!) I’ve heard from a few sites that die-hard fans should not expect that it is a literal, exact replication of the graphic novel in the way that Sin City was. I think I’ll still be happy regardless. This weekend was pretty much dedicated to the celebration of The Dark Knight. Saw the midnight showing on Thursday and then another midnight showing on an IMAX Screen on Friday. I strongly recommend to watch it on IMAX and if you can afford it, watch it a second time. You will pick up stuff you missed the first time. I was happy to hear DK beat Spiderman 3 as the Biggest Opening Weekend EVER and was very excited to see that the IMAX screening had the Watchmen trailer. (The crowd went wild…) Anyways, I spent my afternoon buying The Watchmen, Arkham Asylum, and Marvel’s Civil War comic books because I was so inspired. Comic Movie nerds unite!
